Debtors Registry and NBU Banks: New Tools for Due Diligence
LEX AI now checks counterparties in the Unified Debtors Registry and verifies banks through the NBU registry — automatically, in a single request. 18 registries instead of 16.
Debtors Registry and NBU Banks: New Tools for Due Diligence
Two new registries in LEX AI — checking debtors and banking licenses now takes seconds, not hours.
The Problem: Blind Spots in Counterparty Verification
Every lawyer who handles transactions or prepares due diligence reports knows the feeling of incompleteness. You have checked the counterparty in the EDR, reviewed court cases, found beneficiary information — but questions remain. Does the company have any enforcement recoveries? Is the bank through which the payment is processed solvent?
Until today, LEX AI covered 16 registry checks. Now two critical sources have been added: the Unified Debtors Registry (ERB) of the Ministry of Justice and the NBU bank registry.
What the New Tools Provide
Unified Debtors Registry (ERB)
The ERB contains information about individuals and legal entities with active enforcement proceedings. It is essentially a registry of those who have outstanding debts by court orders, tax authority decisions, or other authorized entities.
| Parameter | What It Shows | |—|—| | Full name / entity name | Debtor identification | | EDRPOU code / Tax ID | Precise entity linkage | | Enforcement proceeding number | Specific proceeding | | Recovery category | Alimony, fines, contractual debts, etc. | | Proceeding status | Open, completed, returned | | Enforcement body | State or private enforcement service |
NBU Bank Registry
The National Bank of Ukraine registry contains official data about all banking institutions in the country: active, in liquidation, and those that have lost their license.
| Parameter | What It Shows | |—|—| | Bank name | Official and abbreviated name | | EDRPOU code | Legal entity identification | | License status | Valid, revoked, annulled | | Bank status | Solvent, insolvent, in liquidation | | Registration date | When the bank was added to the registry | | Contact information | Address, phone, website |
Practical Scenarios
Scenario 1: Counterparty Verification Before Signing a Contract
A corporate lawyer prepares a report on a potential supplier. One query to LEX AI — and among the results appears information: the supplier has three active enforcement proceedings totaling over 2 million UAH. The category — debts from supply contracts. This is a signal: the counterparty systematically fails to pay its partners.
Without the ERB, the lawyer would have had to separately visit the Ministry of Justice website, manually enter the data, and analyze the results. Now it is part of a unified report.
Scenario 2: Placing a Deposit or Choosing an Escrow Bank
A client plans to place a significant amount on deposit, or parties are selecting a bank for an escrow account as part of an M | A deal. A query through LEX AI confirms: the bank has a valid license, status — solvent, operating since 2004. Or conversely — it turns out the bank is in the process of liquidation, and placing funds is absolutely not recommended.
Scenario 3: Comprehensive Due Diligence for M&A
When preparing to acquire a company, the legal team verifies the target company and its executives. LEX AI simultaneously:
- searches for the company and its officers in the ERB;
- verifies the banks where the company is serviced through the NBU registry;
- supplements the picture with data from the EDR, court registry, and beneficiary registry.
The result — a comprehensive report instead of fragmented references from ten sources.
How It Works Technically
You do not need to know the implementation details. Just formulate your query in natural language:
- "Check LLC Budivelnyi Alliance in the debtors registry"
- "Is PrivatBank solvent?"
- "Do a full counterparty check — EDRPOU code 12345678"
LEX AI will determine on its own which registries need to be queried and return a structured result.
Summary: 18 Registries in One Interface
With the addition of the ERB and the NBU bank registry, the LEX AI platform covers 18 registry checks for due diligence. This means less manual work, less risk of missing critical information, and faster results for the client.
