Entering the Spanish Market: How a Ukrainian LegalTech Platform Adapts to European Law
From a single-market Ukrainian product to a multi-jurisdictional platform in 3 weeks.
Why Spain
We built LEX for Ukrainian lawyers. But the architecture proved flexible enough to scale to other jurisdictions. Spain is the first step: 48M population, 155K+ registered attorneys, fully digitized BOE, and codified legal system (like Ukraine's).
Three Layers of Adaptation
Layer 1: Data — Spanish Legal Sources
- BOE (Boletín Oficial del Estado) — official gazette, all legislation
- CENDOJ — judicial decisions database (equivalent of EDRSR)
Layer 2: Tools — New MCP Tools
search_spanish_legislation, get_spanish_article, search_spanish_court_decisions, get_spanish_decision_details
Layer 3: Localization — 4 Languages
Ukrainian (default), English, Russian, Spanish — full i18n with geo-detection.
Geo-Detection
IP geolocation on first visit → country → language mapping. Spain/Mexico/Argentina/Colombia → Spanish. 80% of users never change language manually.
